Slick City Action Park opened in Goodyear on Friday with Mayor Joe Pizzillo attending the ribbon-cutting and park staff inviting families to visit.
Tyler, the general manager of Slick City, told attendees the venue was designed "for family, friends, fun" and for groups such as schools and community organizations. "We want you guys to come out," he said, adding the park offers food and a range of activities for all ages.
The host at the event stated there are 13 different specialty slides at the facility and noted many adults were also using the slides. Mayor Joe Pizzillo praised the attraction, saying, "You know, this is awesome. I never see so many slides in one place," and called the park a new option for Goodyear families.
Park features described at the opening include a play area for children 5 and under, a basketball "air" floor, a dodgeball court and arcade games spread through the facility. The host also mentioned seating areas and massage chairs for adults. Tyler said the park hosts birthday parties and promoted those offerings as "the best birthday parties in the valley."
Organizers gave a street location for visitors — McDowell Road just east of Pebble Creek Parkway — but did not provide details at the ceremony about admission prices, hours of operation or safety and staffing policies. Those operational details were not specified during the ribbon-cutting.
The park opened to the public following the ribbon-cutting; attendees were invited to tour the facility and book parties directly with Slick City.
