School committee approves FY25 audit transfers after accounting adjustments

Superintendent Jake Langley told the committee the transfers are not required by statute but are best practice to make accounting accurate after revenue corrections. He said several overruns were offset by additional revenues, including hardship funds tied to increased multilingual students and higher-than-expected reimbursements for services provided to other programs.
Elizabeth Eames moved approval of the transfers; the motion was seconded and carried on a unanimous voice vote. The superintendent said major areas affected included transportation and both in-district and out-of-district special-education costs, with the district relying on reimbursements where available.
The committee took no further action beyond the vote. Staff said they worked with finance committee members to prepare the transfers and will continue to track reimbursements and high-cost student-service placements in future financial reporting.
The committee’s vote closes the fiscal-year 2025 transfers item; there were no recorded dissenting votes.
