The City of Somerville Licenses and Permits Committee voted to recommend approval of a new garage license for Roman Auto Repair LLC at 45 Mystic Ave., forwarding the recommendation to the full City Council.
Applicant Michael Abruzzese introduced himself as the new owner and said he intends to rehabilitate the former Hillside service center and operate vehicle repair open to the public. The clerk read the application limits: five vehicles stored inside and four outside, with hours Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.–noon, and closed Sunday.
Councilors and the chair asked about prior complaints and stressed that parked vehicles must not block sidewalks or public access. Abruzzese said he had no outstanding tickets and has operated a neighboring business for many years, adding, "I've been in that area for 55 years."
Councilor Klingen said the property historically hosted the same use and, absent new information, had no objection. A motion to recommend the license passed by roll call, 2–0, with one member absent. The chair reminded the applicant not to begin operations until the license is issued by the City.
