Rebecca Williams, senior advisor for community relations to Mayor John Whitmire, introduced a City Pulse segment called “Fix It Files” that showcased a resident’s complaints at McGregor senior living and the city’s response.
At a gala for McGregor residents, one man identified as Mister Duncan said vehicles had been vandalized and the main office was recently broken into. He also described common‑area hallways whose unfinished concrete floor tracked white dust into apartments and said he had visited City Hall multiple times seeking help.
An administration representative said city staff from the health department and housing/community development met with the builder and agreed to replace the floor that was creating dust and to restore security cameras “by the end of this month.” The representative also thanked Council Member Evan Shabazz for his help. Residents said elevators had been unreliable, sometimes working for a month and then being out for another month.
Mister Duncan expressed appreciation for the follow‑through by the mayor’s office. Rebecca Williams closed the segment by saying the Fix It Files will continue to spotlight cases where residents bring problems to the city and departments respond.
Next step: the administration’s stated remedies — floor replacement and camera restoration — are scheduled to occur soon; no formal timetable or written commitment was presented on air beyond the “by the end of this month” timeline for cameras.
