The Federal Way City Council on Oct. 7 approved multiple second-reading ordinances tied to development and middle-housing code updates and confirmed a set of commission appointments.
Council approved Council Bill 916 (development agreement code amendment) and two related middle-housing code cleanup ordinances, Council Bills 917 and 918. Council Member Adobe noted the package has been worked on over the past year and that second readings are primarily codification steps following prior presentations. The ordinances passed unanimously on second reading.
Separately, the council confirmed youth commission appointments (Jaden Marzan, Isabella Wynn, Diana Favela Lopez and Justin Sinn as alternate) and planning commission appointments (Malin Barnes to position 4; John Fife to alternate position 1). The appointments were moved and seconded from the dais and approved unanimously.
Council members said the changes are intended to streamline development review and advance affordable/middle-housing options; they urged continued public engagement as implementation details come forward.
