West Bend tree lighting set for Nov. 6; Bend Theatre to supply ticketed talent

The West Bend Business Improvement District and event partners confirmed plans for the city’s Christmas tree-lighting ceremony on Nov. 6.
Kelly (Speaker 9), who is coordinating the event on behalf of BID partners, told the board the ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. and the tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. The Bend Theatre has booked a talent act — the actors who played the bullies in the film A Christmas Story — and the theater is running a ticketed component to help offset talent costs. Kelly said musical acts, Santa appearances and communications will be finalized in the coming weeks.
John (Speaker 2) explained the BID reserved Nov. 3–4 for system and electrical testing to avoid partial setups and weather-related problems. He noted some community members may comment that the tree appears up before Halloween, but staff said the early schedule gives the contracted installers time to set everything and to test systems so the display is complete for the scheduled lighting.
Organizers said concessions will be available (hot chocolate and hot cider from the Downtown Association) and the event will include collaborations with the Downtown Business Association and Bend Theatre. Kelly asked board members for ideas and confirmed the BID will coordinate communications and a public meet-and-greet with visiting talent after the show.
Staff will proceed with bookings and logistics and will provide further updates as details are confirmed.
