Lancaster ISD’s Board of Trustees on Oct. 8 took several consent and action items: the board adopted a resolution recognizing Oct. 8, 2025 as Texas Education Human Resources Day; nominated two candidates for the Dallas Central Appraisal District board; and approved institutional membership in the Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE).
Human resources recognition: Dr. Grama presented a proposed resolution honoring HR staff and asked trustees to approve the observance. Trustee Ty Jones moved to formally recognize Human Resources Day; Trustee Morris seconded and the board carried the motion unanimously. "Motion carried unanimously," staff recorded after the vote.
Dallas Central Appraisal District nominations: Trustee Nichols nominated Marion Hamilton for one of two vacancies on the Dallas Central Appraisal District board. Trustee Janae Cortez nominated herself for the second slot. The board conducted voice votes and agreed to submit nomination packets to the chief appraiser; staff reminded trustees the packet deadline falls between Oct. 10 and Oct. 15 and asked members to return materials promptly.
CUBE membership vote: The board debated institutional membership costs and benefits for CUBE, an organization affiliated with the National School Boards Association. Miss Allen reported an institutional membership cost of $5,000 (staff noted registration and travel costs remain separate). Trustee Ty Jones moved to proceed with CUBE membership and Trustee Nichols seconded. The roll-call/voice/device vote recorded yes votes from Mr. Lewis, Ms. Nichols, Mr. Jones and Ms. Cortez and a yes recorded via device by the board president; Trustee Morris voted no. The motion passed.
Procedural notes and next steps: The board read the resolution for the appraisal district nominations into the record and reminded nominees to submit completed packets by the district’s stated deadline.
