She said the decision came after meet-and-confer activity with labor and months of community input and asked to return with implementation updates as the city moves toward the January date.
Mayor and council members thanked Supervisor James and noted the council's unanimous approval earlier in the process to accept county assistance; they emphasized the need for careful implementation and public communications so residents have clear information about timing and which beats and neighborhoods will see additional sheriff presence.
