Catholic Charities, SolTrans partner on Treat Yourself Resource Fair for people experiencing homelessness (Nov. 5 at Vallejo Transit Center)

Alexandria Willingham Garcia, Food Access Supervisor, and Andrew Austin, Lead Food Access Specialist, told the board the fair will be Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1–4 p.m. at the Vallejo Transit Center, 311 Sacramento St. They recapped last year’s distribution—more than 300 hot meals, about 125 shelf‑stable food bags, more than 150 hygiene kits, 20+ haircuts and showers, and participation from 16 community agencies—and said they aim to serve about 500 people this year. The organization is requesting monetary donations, shelf‑stable food, hygiene items, blankets, sleeping gear and pet food; the Vallejo Rotary committed roughly $2,500 to support hygiene items, hot meals and raffle prizes.
Board members welcomed the presentation and asked the presenters to coordinate with the newly opened Vallejo Navigation Center to ensure participants there can access the fair; staff said they will reach out and coordinate. The board also commended volunteers and emphasized partnership opportunities with SolTrans outreach.
