La Paz County emergency manager reports progress on Oxbow cleanup after storm setbacks

Emergency Management Director Jason Scott told the La Paz County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 15 that cleanup and repair work at the Oxbow site has resumed after weather-related setbacks.
Scott said crews “had some setbacks due to weather and safety concerns,” but reported that “7 of the 10 rows have been removed from the river” and that public works and contractors are making steady progress on site restoration. He told the board the recent storm caused washouts that temporarily delayed work.
Miss McDowell, the county administrator who introduced the item, thanked emergency management and public works for their work. Chair Minor said he reviewed an emergency management presentation on the response and thanked staff for their efforts while noting he had not visited the site in person to avoid interfering with contractor operations.
The update did not include a timeline for final repairs or a cost estimate; Scott said contractors are coordinating the ongoing work. The board offered no objections and proceeded to other business.
