Sebring — On first reading the City Council approved two land‑use ordinances Tuesday: a rezoning request for 3611 Kenilworth Boulevard to allow reconstruction of a residence and an annexation ordinance for roughly 27.15 acres the city recently acquired for the Wildcats.
Jeff Schmucker of the Central Florida Regional Planning Council presented the rezoning report and said the requested R‑2 (one‑ and two‑family) zoning is consistent with the property’s mixed‑use future land‑use designation and with the surrounding neighborhood. Planning and zoning recommended approval at its Sept. 9 meeting; the council approved the ordinance on first reading and scheduled a second and final reading for Oct. 7, 2025.
Later the council approved on first reading an ordinance to annex 27.15 acres located on Sunnyland Drive, Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bossy Watson Avenue into city limits; city staff said the parcel will support the Wildcats program. That ordinance was also scheduled for final reading on Oct. 7, 2025.
Both measures progressed without substantive public opposition at the hearings.
