The Putnam County School Board approved most of its consent agenda on Aug. 19 while pulling several items for separate discussion, advanced two construction contracts to pre-construction and cleared multiple student trip requests.
Board Attorney summarized the procurement review and said staff were comfortable advancing the construction work. "We're good with moving forward to the pre con stage right now," the attorney said, while noting clarifications would be addressed at the guaranteed maximum price stage.
At the start of the meeting the board moved to approve the consent agenda excluding items E7, E8 and F1; Board Member (speaker 6) made the motion and it passed by voice vote. After discussion, the board voted to accept items E7 and E8 together.
Chair and staff also discussed staffing: when asked about teacher vacancies, Miss Whitehurst reported that, "as of last week, we were less than about 15 vacancies." The board subsequently approved F1 (teacher positions) by voice vote.
The board approved five time-sensitive overnight trip requests (J1–J5) for FFA chapters and a high school volleyball team after members described the conference or tournament justifications.
Next steps: staff will continue contract negotiations and work toward the GMP stage for the two construction contracts; the district will post budget and staffing projections as discussed ahead of the next budget hearing.
