Council workshop: BoardDocs training, committee updates and two proclamations

Council received a training walkthrough on BoardDocs and how to use tablets and the City of College Place website for meeting materials as the city transitions to a new meeting‑management platform. Clerk Garcia said she had reset council passwords and demonstrated where executive (council‑only) content appears in the BoardDocs interface; IT support offered to provide one‑on‑one help for login and password resets.
The clerk summarized updates to internal and external committee assignments to be presented for approval at the next council meeting: Councilmember Lopez will serve on the public works, public safety and finance committees; Mayor Hernandez replaced former city administrator Mike Rizzitello on several external boards; there is a vacancy on the historic preservation commission and one on the public safety committee. Garcia said the city will recruit for the historic preservation vacancy through social media, the city newsletter and the website.
Mayor Norma L. Hernandez read two proclamations: one recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15) and noting that the Hispanic population in College Place constitutes over 18 percent of the city population; and a second proclaiming Constitution Week (Sept. 15–19, 2025). Council shared brief closing comments and the mayor adjourned the workshop at 06:32 p.m.
