Longtime Glynn County board member Dr. Yerigan resigns; board to appoint replacement

The Glynn County Board of Education announced at its Sept. 9 meeting that longtime board member Dr. Yerigan has resigned and that the governor’s office has accepted the resignation.
"We did recently receive notification from them, that Dr. Yerigan had resigned and they had accepted that resignation," the presiding officer said, thanking Dr. Yerigan and his family for roughly 15 years of service to District 4 and to the board.
The presiding officer said the board would announce a plan in the coming month for replacing Dr. Yerigan and for addressing board leadership, and that the appointee would serve until the end of the current term, which runs through 2026. The presiding officer emphasized the personal and community contributions of Dr. Yerigan and said the board hopes to act swiftly so an appointee could be eligible to qualify for any upcoming primary if they choose to run.
No formal motion or vote on a replacement was taken at the meeting. The announcement was delivered as part of the meeting's opening remarks.
