Glynn County Schools honors 2025–26 Teachers and Support Professionals of the Year

The Glynn County Board of Education recognized the district’s 2025–26 Teachers of the Year and — for the first time — Support (classified) Professionals of the Year during its Sept. 9 meeting.

"My name is Wanda Shue, and I serve as the assistant director of human resources," Wanda Shue said as she announced honorees chosen by their peers for ‘‘exceptional dedication, professionalism, and impact.’’ Shue told the board the district expanded the program this year to highlight support professionals and that the honorees will be celebrated at an annual event on Oct. 13.

Shue named honorees from Brunswick High School, Glynn Middle School, several elementary and middle schools and central services, and invited all recipients to a group photo in the lobby. Examples named aloud at the meeting included Brunswick High School’s Teacher of the Year Jessica Zettler and Support Professional of the Year Kelly Williams; Glyn[n]/Glenn Middle School honorees Tamara Gray (teacher) and Christy DePrater (support professional); and district-level honorees such as Jennifer Sapp for Board of Education support staff and Paul O’Brien for school nutrition.

The board’s presiding officer thanked honorees and acknowledged the many extra hours teachers and staff contribute outside the classroom, saying the board ‘‘appreciates what you all do every day.’’

The recognition items were ceremonial; no board action was required. The district will hold a formal celebration for the honorees on Oct. 13, and honorees were invited to a group photo immediately after the meeting.
