Mister Boggs introduced an item on planned improvements to the Cabell Midland High School auditorium and turned the presentation over to Mister Jackson, who described the district’s review, industry specifications and bid results.
Jackson said the project replaces an aging incandescent lighting system with LED fixtures, adds new speakers and touch-screen controls, updates wiring and installs clearer circuit labeling to make future changes easier. "The total cost came back in at $496,265," Jackson said, noting two bids were received and the accepted bid was about half the price of the other. He added district electricians will handle some high-voltage tasks to reduce contractor hours while low-voltage installation will be completed by the vendor.
Jackson told the board the installation will be scheduled around events but could require taking the theater dark for an estimated minimum of three to four weeks during the work. The board thanked staff and Creative Audio (which provided a temporary lighting solution last spring) for helping the school continue programs while a permanent solution is scheduled.
No formal contract vote appears in the public transcript excerpt; the item was described during the operations update and will proceed through any required agenda approvals.
