Cabell County students recognized for FFA and county-fair wins at school board meeting

Lily Rowe, of Milton Middle School, and Kendall Carter, president of Cabell Midland FFA, addressed the Cabell County Board of Education to thank the board for inviting local FFA chapters to the meeting and to recognize student successes at the state FFA convention and the Cabell County Fair.
"I want to thank the board of education for inviting Milton Middle School FFA and Cabell Midland FFA here tonight to recognize our achievements at the state FFA convention," Lily Rowe said, then listed quiz-bowl and opening/closing ceremonies placings, naming students who placed individually and as a team. Kendall Carter told the board the chapter’s scrapbook won first place in the state competition and named students who earned the state FFA degree and three students who will receive the American FFA degree this fall in Indianapolis.
Multiple students stepped forward to announce individual fair results — placings for market steers, feeder heifers, showmanship awards and parade honors — and thanked board members for supporting 4-H and FFA activities in the county. Board members responded with applause and praise for the students’ accomplishments and for their public speaking.
The recognition concluded with group photos and brief logistical coordination for banners and stage setup. The board then moved on to the regular agenda.
