The board unanimously accepted a donation from the Hillsboro Youth Football and Cheer group (HYFCE) to fund lighting improvements and authorized Reinhold Electric to complete the work as outlined. "This is a very generous donation from this group," the board president said before the motion carried without opposition.
Trustees approved a purchase of a Bluebird 77-passenger bus from Central States for $151,360. District staff told the board two replacement buses were already selected under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act and staff expect approximately $70,000 in grant money toward this additional bus; the new vehicle is expected to arrive around December.
The board also approved a junior high travel opportunity to Washington, D.C., coordinated by junior high principal Dr. Murphy with vendor WorldStrives for the 2025–26 school year, and approved a three-year agreement with Burns Citadel Security Company to extend district monitoring services to recently added building sections.
On finance items the board approved a $2,000 payment to Jefferson College and briefly reviewed the early-year financial report; finance staff reported roughly $2,000,000 in recognized revenue for the period and highlighted a $158,000 activity-fund expenditure related to setting up employee HRA/flexible spending accounts that will be adjusted in future budget entries.
Finally, trustees set the district's tax-rate hearing for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, in accordance with Missouri notice requirements. All motions in this package passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
