County 911 director recommends delaying move to Ohio ESINet until 2028

"ORC gives us five years before we have to make a commitment... we have until July 30th of 2030," Kendall said, adding: "My recommendation was to wait until 2028 so that we can see basically, the state’s never run a 911 network before. We give them the opportunity to learn how to do that. We evaluate how their system's operating and if the call quality is... meets our standards."
Kendall noted Warren County has been connected to the Indiana ESINet since 2016 and that the state 911 office is building a bridge between the Indiana and Ohio ESINets to preserve interoperability. He asked commissioners to sign a letter to the state expressing the county’s preference to wait and not join immediately.
Commissioners asked whether delaying had any adverse implications; Kendall said there were none. Several commissioners indicated they had no objection to Kendall’s recommendation at the meeting. The item was treated as an affirmation of the committee recommendation rather than a formal, binding vote recorded in these minutes.
