Developer revises No Name Auto site plan to add screening, reconfigure parking

Manuel Pilar, project manager for the landlord of 66 & 72 Broadway — home to No Name Auto and Repair — presented revised site plans at the Norwood Planning Board’s Aug. 25 meeting, describing several changes requested by Conservation and planning staff.
Pilar said the updated plans include a 12‑by‑12, 6‑foot high wooden stockade fence to screen the existing dumpsters and that parking stalls are now dimensioned at 9.5 feet wide by 18.5 feet deep. To maintain access to the dumpster, he said three parking stalls will be straight‑back stalls and one angled stall; the plan also adds a planting berm and identifies plant species where previously unspecified.
The applicant said the changes respond to conditions of a used‑car dealer license that had been approved by the Board of Selectmen; Pilar stated the selectmen did not require a revised site plan but did require fencing and landscaping as conditions of the licensing approval.
Board members and the chair questioned logistics: whether a fence placed two feet from the building would impede repairs, whether arborvitae or movable planters might be a better long‑term solution, and whether maintenance and durability were concerns in a high‑traffic area. Pilar said the applicant is willing to modify details in response to the Selectmen’s comments and the planner’s recommendations.
No formal action was recorded on the site plan at the meeting; the applicant handed revised plans to the board for review.
