Construction moves vertical at Pine Bluff campus; board updated on HVAC, fences and visitor checks

The Pine Bluff School District’s facilities update on Dec. 16 included a contractor presentation showing recent progress on the new campus and a superintendent report on safety and ongoing facility work.
Contractor Sean showed that the media center slab is poured, masonry walls are starting on the southeast corner, footings are in place for the auditorium and Career Technical Education buildings are being positioned along Eleventh Street. Large sanitary sewer reroutes and storm drainage tie‑ins were underway and the project team expected steel deliveries in early to mid‑January to accelerate vertical construction.
Superintendent Dr. Rice updated the board on building‑specific items: HVAC follow‑up work at Southwood remains to address thermostat issues before project closeout; Robert Moorhead bathroom repairs will begin over the holiday break to repair vandalism; fencing has been installed at Southwood and is in progress at other sites; locks have been ordered and are being keyed with expected completion by mid‑January; and the district is rolling out a Verceda visitor‑management system that will require ID scanning for campus visitors.
District staff also described radio system work—the vendor must update an analog feeder on a water tower before final antenna installs—and said some work will continue into January. The board did not take formal action on construction items; these were presented for information and oversight.
