The Roots Creek Trail project has shifted contractors and now involves Falcon Design to refine bridge recommendations and create a direct connection to Springfield Park; staff said right-of-way has already been acquired for that connector. The Buckhead Trail Crossing bids were rejected earlier this year; staff has asked Falcon Design to value-engineer alternatives and explore routes that reduce heavy concrete and switchbacks.
Staff emphasized phasing to manage environmental constraints at creek crossings and to time trail construction to align with related roadway projects (Arnold Mill and Highway 92) so connections open in sequence. No formal actions were taken; council expressed support for continued progress and coordination.
