Jackson approves Sustainable Strategies contract, authorizes possible delegation to Washington D.C.

The Town Council voted Aug. 18 to approve a service agreement with grant consultant Sustainable Strategies and to authorize staff to organize a small delegation to Washington, D.C., likely including one staff member, the town manager, the mayor and possibly one council member.
Susan Scarlato, director of external affairs, said the partnership has helped the town secure significant funding it would likely not have accessed otherwise and recommended extending the service agreement and supporting travel to meet with Wyoming’s congressional delegation and federal agency staff. "The partnership with Sustainable Strategies has definitely been fruitful for the town," Scarlato said.
Council discussion touched on timing — the proposed trip would be this October while Congress is in session — and on whether the delegation should include experienced members who have previously led trips. Councilmember (speaker 7) moved to approve the contract and authorize travel; the motion passed unanimously with Councilman Schechter absent.
Staff said they will report back with timings and interested council members so the town can coordinate schedules and ensure effective use of federal meetings to advance pending grant applications.
