Council calls up sign-control board case for Aug. 25 after concerns about adding another pole sign on East Beltline

The Richardson City Council voted to call up for full consideration a sign-control board decision that would replace existing signage with two new multi-tenant pole signs along East Beltline Road after several council members said the proposal added too many large pole signs in close proximity.
Staff said the applicant proposes to replat two parcels so the site would measure about 8.76 acres and would be eligible for two multi-tenant pole signs (20 feet tall, 60 sq ft each) in addition to an existing single-tenant pole sign. The sign-control board approved the change contingent on the replat; some council members asked the applicant to appear and indicated a preference to either reduce the number of pole signs or coordinate design for all three existing signs.
Council Member Justice moved to call the case for full council consideration on Aug. 25, 2025 and Council Member Barrios seconded; the motion passed. Staff will notify the applicant and place the item on the Aug. 25 agenda for final council action.
