Resident urges Leavenworth to oppose proposed CoreCivic immigration facility

"This place is built to break us. He urged the commission to "do all that it legally can to oppose the opening of a CoreCivic immigration center in our community."
McIntosh framed his remarks as both a moral objection to private, for-profit detention and a call for local action, saying officials should not "welcome this tyranny into our city." The commission did not take action during the meeting; the mayor and commissioners did not respond substantively during the public-comment time but accepted the comment under the standard three-minute rule.
City staff and elected officials did not record a motion, referral or formal next step in the meeting minutes related to McIntosh’s remarks.
