Hoschton Council discusses fall festival alcohol permits, requires vendor cups and wristbands; DDA nomination delayed

During its work session, the Hoschton City Council reviewed temporary alcohol permits for the upcoming fall festival and discussed procedures to limit open-container sales.
Councilmember James (speaker 4) raised concerns about patrons walking around with open beers. Jennifer (staff) clarified the city's approach: vendors will provide cups and use wrist bracelets, and roaming with personal beer containers is prohibited. She added that festival staff will notify law enforcement if violations occur: "Just let us if you do see if anybody sees that, let us know, and we'll get, Officer Murray on them." The permits discussed are temporary and limited to the fall festival.
Council also reviewed the identity of temporary food/alcohol vendors expected to participate (listed by staff as Slice, Pasta Master, and 4 Brothers at the Depot among others) and confirmed the permits apply only to the event.
Separately, the mayor told the council the Downtown Development Authority asked to delay filling a vacancy; he said he would recommend tabling the appointment until sometime in 2026. The council agreed to give the DDA time to decide and will revisit the matter after the new year.
The council then opened the floor for citizen input and none was offered before the mayor moved to adjourn the meeting.
