Resident urges update to Perris/Paris Mountain wildfire mitigation plan after recent fires

"This publication came out in 02/2022...I commend the previous councils for getting this in place," Sheets said, but added that its financial analysis is now "way off base" given changes in land values and that the plan's recommended steps should be revisited in light of recent fires at Table Rock and Pinnacle.
Sheets suggested prevention measures, including partnerships with law enforcement and Paris Mountain State Park staff to reduce fuels, and cited at least three other states that use incarcerated people to assist fighting wildfires and making fuel breaks. He asked the council to "dust it off, get it up to date" and to report on commitments and progress related to the plan.
