Dallas Buckman of Go Civil presented a petition to annex roughly 19.1 acres in the vicinity of 3000 North and 400 West on Sept. 3, saying the property is contiguous to Cedar City and within the annexation-declaration boundary.
"This is an annexation request for Ryan Brenley out on 3000 North and 400 West... we're taking it through the process so that whenever he is ready," Buckman said, noting the applicant may later request a zone change to an industrial/manufacturing zone (I and M-1) when development plans advance.
Staff and council discussed infrastructure: Jonathan and others confirmed there is a sewer main in 3000 North and noted a 12-inch water line nearby. Council members raised topography and potential lift-station needs for sewer on the north side of 3000 North. After clarifying details about city boundaries and service lines, the council agreed the petition could be placed on the consent agenda for future formal action.
Next steps: The annexation petition will be moved to consent; future hearings or decisions on zoning and any required infrastructure work will follow normal planning and budgeting processes.
