Ramsey County updates board on St. Paul digital security incident; emails to city remain down

During the board’s County Connections segment on Aug. 19, county staff provided an update on the City of Saint Paul’s digital security incident.
County management said the city has reset passwords for more than 3,000 employees and that Ramsey County is working with city staff and vendors on reconnecting systems. County staff reported they cannot currently send or receive email with the City of Saint Paul and that departments have developed interim workarounds. Staff said they have established security criteria that Saint Paul must meet before full email connectivity will be restored and that the county will monitor the city’s 90-day emergency extension and related milestones.
The board thanked the teams involved and asked follow-up questions about staff communications while email connectivity remains limited.
