The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners approved acceptance of a grant award for the Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program during its Aug. 19 meeting.
Commissioner Jeong moved to place Item 7 (the grant award) before the board and described it as “about $4,000,000” that the county will accept as part of its continuum of care. Jeong said the funds largely go to partner organizations that deliver services, noting the county’s administrative portion is small relative to the total award. The board seconded the motion and approved it by roll call.
County staff explained that the full grant amount is recorded in intergovernmental revenue and that the county will record expenditures on the grants and a modest administrative allocation in the program budgets. One commissioner asked staff to confirm the split; staff said the county would retain approximately $220,000 for administration and distribute about $3.8 million to subgrantees.
Outcome: Motion carried; the board accepted the grant award and directed staff to incorporate the funding into program budgets and grant agreements.
