On Nov. 5 the City of Rome Zoning Board of Appeals approved an area variance permitting a parking pad to be constructed 1 foot from the interior side lot line at 1509 Rosa Terrace.
Owner Jessica Montana told the board a single-lane driveway made maneuvering difficult and that a curved parking pad would allow easier parking. She said snow could be pushed into the front yard for removal and that a gas line runs near the front yard, so expansion there was limited. The Oneida County Department of Planning submitted a letter with no comment.
Board members asked questions about snow removal and clearances; after discussion the board voted in favor of the variance. The board advised Montana to contact Code Office representative Mark Domenico about permits before beginning work.
