Breckenridge officials say no new fee for longstanding parades, schedule discussion for November

The manager said longstanding events such as the VISD homecoming and the Chamber Christmas parade would be exempt from any proposed fee. The mayor asked staff to place the topic on the November agenda for a full discussion of an events ordinance and any potential fees.
Commissioners and staff identified the primary driver behind any fee as the overtime and staffing costs associated with public-safety and public-works support for large events. No formal action to adopt a fee was taken at the meeting; staff said the matter will return for discussion and potential ordinance drafting in November.
