Council approved the Denison Development Alliance FY2026 budget after DDA leaders reported property sales, a 60,000-sq.-ft. building under construction and anticipated reserves of about $3.36 million to fund future projects.
Denison — The Denison City Council unanimously approved the Denison Development Alliance fiscal year 2026 budget on Sept. 2 after representatives presented several development highlights and capital needs.
Tony Kei, speaking on behalf of the DDA board, said the Foundation Industrial Park properties were sold and a 60,000-square-foot building for J&L Wire is under construction; the DDA also reported two planned 80,000-square-foot buildings and ongoing work on a 12-inch water line loop for fire safety. The DDA acquired the former Chase drive-through to create a new office and noted completion of a multi-decade facade program in downtown Denison.
Kei told council the DDA expects to have roughly $3.36 million in reserves for projects and outlined potential uses such as workforce-development scholarships and infrastructure at the JM property, including pursuing an EDA grant that would require a 50% match. Council thanked the DDA for its downtown work and approved the budget as presented.
The approval allows the DDA to proceed with planned initiatives and to apply for grants and capital projects consistent with the presented budget.
