During public comment earlier in the meeting, attorney Jim Durham defended Clay Connor and Sand Creek against social‑media allegations and said his review found no evidence of public corruption. Chairman David Bennett noted he had received information he wanted to verify with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and recused Commissioner Toby Connor from discussion because of a family relationship. A motion to table the related consent agenda items (1–3) until September failed; the board then considered the procurement items on their merits.
