At its Aug. 11 meeting, the Lewis County Fiscal Court completed a series of routine votes and appointments.
The court approved minutes from the July 14 meeting and accepted a litter-abatement grant funding agreement for the coming year. The court appointed Ryan Plank to the Lewis County Extension District Board (term to 12/31/2028) and reappointed several members to the ambulance service board (Danny Palmer, Leanne Ruggles, Brenda Cunningham, Terry LaMaster) in separate roll-call votes as a matter of practice.
Personnel approvals included hiring Amanda Kennard as a full-time 9-1-1 dispatcher at $12 per hour, hiring Carla Earlywine as a part-time 9-1-1 dispatcher at $13 per hour (already certified), and moving Chris Gardner from part-time to full-time deputy jailer/transport officer at $15 per hour. Each appointment and hire was moved, seconded and approved on roll call.
Following closed-session deliberations about real property, the court authorized the county attorney to write to the school board regarding a property acquisition; Magistrate Woody Underwood asked the minutes to reflect his abstention from the vote because he is a school employee. The court also approved claims and transfers for county funds, noting a large Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) invoice that will be reimbursed through AOC procedures.
All motions were approved by recorded roll call unless noted otherwise. The next regular fiscal court meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8, 2025, at 3 p.m.
