Commissioners asked that the signs emphasize "garage parking" (not only "Downtown Boulder") where helpful, and suggested future‑proof decal options to reduce replacement costs if the city’s medallion/logo changes.
On parking rates, staff proposed changes to align with the City Manager's recommended budget: a $0.50/hour increase on‑street and simplification of garage pricing to a flat $1.75 per hour for the first six hours, a full $15 daily cap thereafter, continued free weekends and holidays, and a $0.99 per transaction fee charged by the payment vendor. Commissioners expressed concern that the $0.99 fee can be confusing if not clearly communicated; staff said the fee reflects third‑party processing and that the change is effective Jan. 1, 2026. The commission moved and approved the recommended changes by voice vote.
Staff will produce updated sign artwork addressing legibility and provide sign placement maps, and the parking rate changes will be included in the budget materials forwarded to City Council.
