Chino Hills — The City Council approved its consent calendar Aug. 12 on a 5–0 vote, including contracts to fund school resource officers (item 12) and crossing-guard services (item 13) for the 2025–26 school year.
During discussion, Council Member Ryan pulled items 12 and 13 for information. Staff explained item 12 includes approximately $786,000 to fund school resource officers (SROs) assigned to Ayala High School, Chino Hills High School and additional coverage for middle and elementary schools as needed; staff clarified the city currently has three SROs (one dedicated to each high school and a third that rotates to cover junior highs and elementary schools).
Item 13 covers roughly $191,000 to provide crossing guard services at Chino Valley Unified School District elementary sites. After a brief exchange about staffing and accounting (allocation methods rather than double-counting), the council moved both items together and approved the consent calendar 5–0.
