Council approves conditional use permit for cosmetology academy at Uptown plaza

The Cedar Hill City Council voted Aug. 12 to approve conditional use permit CUP7182025 for a cosmetology vocational school proposed for a suite near the Uptown Boulevard/JCPenney area. The public hearing drew no speakers in opposition. Council Member Sams moved for approval and the council seconded and welcomed the applicant to the city.
Mayor Stephen Mason noted the applicant had previously come before the council and applauded their persistence in finding a suitable location in Cedar Hill. The council’s approval allows the business to proceed with required permits and to coordinate with city staff on regulatory and operational details.
Next steps: applicant Antoinette Dixon (named in the application) and property owners will work with planning staff to complete any outstanding permitting and to comply with conditions of the CUP.
