"So we are asking, to provide 3 hours of leave to all of the eligible hourly employees," Owen said, adding the leave would apply only to employees who were scheduled to work that day and not to employees already on leave.
Owen said the district expects the budget impact to be minimal and asked staff to use compensatory time first; she said any overtime exposure is being reviewed and would be reported if significant. She also said the district plans to update its local policy (DEA local) to consider delegating pay authority to the superintendent in future emergency closures to avoid payroll disruption.
Board member Carter moved to adopt the resolution as presented, specifically authorizing three hours of leave for hourly employees impacted by the Oct. 21 cancellation at Liberty Hill High School; the motion was seconded by Neighbour and carried on a voice vote.
