Round Lake board approves curriculum purchase, vendor systems, contracts and a Winter Guard trip

Curriculum purchase: The board approved a 5.5-year agreement with Quaver Ed for elementary health and PE curriculum resources in the amount of $27,027 to be funded from the Illinois Empower grant. Curriculum staff said the resource is available in Spanish, integrates with Canvas, and will support compliance with ISBE health mandates.
Food-service equipment: The board approved a Sonico temperature monitoring system to reduce food loss and help maintain audit compliance. The purchase was presented as a one-time fee of $6,575.10 plus $2,508 annually for monitoring services (total $9,191.10), funded through the food-service fund.
Athletics/payments: The board approved Arbiter Pay to automate officials’ payments; the first-year cost is $8,900 (includes setup and prorated seasons) and future annual costs were estimated at about $4,400. Administrators said payments will include a two-step control process in which event supervisors verify work and finance staff release funds.
Staffing contracts: The board approved individual contracts with Insight Global for virtual speech-language pathologists and a virtual psychologist to fill gaps while in-house recruitment continues.
Student trips: The board approved the Round Lake High School varsity winter guard trip to WGI Nationals in Dayton, Ohio (April 8–11, 2026) pending acceptance into the event and noted an alternate Flint regional trip if necessary. Administrators presented estimated per-student costs and fundraising plans; they said district bus transportation will be provided while other costs are covered by student fundraising, fees and boosters.
Board members said finance staff will monitor funds used for vendor services and that oversight protocols are in place for payments and vendor implementation. Votes on these items passed by roll call for each motion.
