Council to hear rezoning request on Farmington Road for proposed duplexes

Council members noted neighbors’ floodplain concerns and asked whether the site could be raised out of the floodway; staff said floodplain mitigation and cut-and-fill balancing are handled through the site-plan and stormwater review process and that the rezoning would permit the opportunity to pursue development but does not approve building plans.
Chris said the rezoning gives the applicant the ability to pursue a major site plan, which will include stormwater, water-quality and floodplain considerations; the number of housing units is therefore not final until the site plan is approved.
