The Boyertown Area School District board approved several consent and action items during its Aug. 26 legislative meeting.
Minutes: The board approved the July 22, 2025 legislative meeting minutes by roll call. Recorded votes showed five 'yes' votes and two 'no' votes (Ms. Deeroff and Ms. Nyman voted no) and the motion carried.
Superintendent's consent agenda: The board approved the superintendent’s consent agenda, which included two cooperative agricultural student agreements with Oley Valley School District and a donation list that included a $7,000 donation from the Washington Elementary PTO for K–5 classroom resources. Administration noted the donations and agreements will be formally reflected on the next legislative meeting agenda for final approval processes where required.
EDM Financial LLC agreement: Administration sought approval for an interim financial services agreement with EDM Financial LLC following the departure of the district CFO. The motion passed on roll call with one recorded 'no' vote (Ms. Deeroff). The motion included a note that the agreement remains subject to final solicitor review before execution.
Health and welfare plan continuation: The board approved continued status-quo coverage for supervisory support employees whose prior plan expired June 30, while a new successor plan is developed and returned to the board for approval.
Personnel agenda and principal appointment: The personnel slate, including the appointment of Dr. Berge as principal at Gilbertsville Elementary, was approved. The appointment carried on roll call with one 'no' vote (Ms. Deeroff). Administration said the principal search included more than 30 applicants, multi-round interviews and a panel with administrators, teachers and board representation.
What the approvals mean: Administration said the EDM Financial contract will be finalized after solicitor review, donations will be processed per district policy, and Human Resources will complete onboarding for personnel hires. The board’s approvals allow administration to implement the approved items and return with any required follow-up documents or reports.
