Oklahoma City Council approved a set of five revocable permits allowing Riversport to run multiple seasonal events, including an annual fireworks permit covering up to 10 shows, the Holiday River Parade (exclusive river use), the Oklahoma Regatta Festival, the Tri OKC Riversport Challenge and a youth rowing league scheduled for November.
Trisha Downey outlined the events and logistics, saying the consolidated fireworks permit is intended to streamline approvals for up to 10 displays in a year and that Riversport coordinates safety and production through Arc Pyrotechnics. She noted the Regatta Festival attracts collegiate teams from across the country and that combined events often draw more than 10,000 attendees.
Alina Croix, Regatta director and a systems analyst for the OKC Fire Department, described the triathlon, multisport races, 5K/10K events and a relaxed 'adventure try' option that allows kayaking or paddleboarding rather than a formal swim. She said the youth rowing league involves roughly 250 kids from 14–16 schools, many Title I, and that Riversport supplies coaching, practice time and event logistics.
Council members praised the events as community attractions and approved each permit in separate votes; all were adopted unanimously.
