FGOC forwards $157,421.74 write-off of PAGC uncollected fees after agency report

The Finance and Government Operations Committee voted Aug. 19 to forward a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to write off $157,421.74 in uncollected Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator (PAGC) fees.
Vanessa Meralano, Director of the Department of Aging and Adult Services, and Lisa Pate, Chief Deputy Public Administrator, reported that the PAGC urgent needs fund — historically replenished from client recoveries — has been fully recouped over the last five years. "For the last 5 years, it has been 100 percent recouped," Pate said, referring to the county’s $100,000 contribution to the urgent needs fund.
They also described how many fees are deferred and subject to court approval; recent fee increases (investigation, monthly, trust fees) have helped lower the balance of uncollected fees. The committee approved forwarding the write-off amount to the full board.
