McAlester — The council voted to approve an ordinance amending the city—s budget for fiscal year 2024–25 and to declare the ordinance an emergency measure.
The finance director described three amendments: shifting $52,342 from the Municipal Public Works Authority (MPWA) fund balance into a dedicated sales tax fund to cover a bond payment; reallocating sales-tax receipts to particular line items; and an internal ARPA reallocation with no net revenue effect. "What that is is that's our bond payment," the finance director said of the MPWA transfer.
Council moved, seconded and approved the ordinance and then approved an emergency declaration by roll call. Staff said the amendments primarily correct year-end allocations and codify ordinances into the municipal code via the city—s codification service.
The council recorded roll-call votes approving the motion to adopt the ordinance and the emergency motion; the ordinance will be codified as part of the city—s annual supplement to the municipal code.
