The Marion City Council adjourned to closed session at the Aug. 5 work session under Iowa Code section 21.5(1)(c) to discuss litigation matters. After the closed session, the council returned to open session and took up one final item: Resolution 32477, approving a settlement agreement with Pete Lamer.
A councilmember (Speaker 13) moved to approve Resolution 32477 and another councilmember (Speaker 8) seconded the motion. Council voted by voice; those present responded "aye" and the mayor announced the motion approved and the settlement authorized.
The settlement resolution was the only action reported out of the closed session; staff gave no further public details about the settlement terms during the open meeting.
