Votes at a glance: Kane County executive committee approves contracts, software purchases and dozens of routine measures

The Kane County Executive Committee approved a slate of contracts and routine resolutions Nov. 5, clearing multiple items for the full board or accepting them on consent.

Major approvals and motions included:

- Adult Justice Center Kitchen and Laundry Improvements: A capital contract with Light Construction Inc. for $2,164,200 to replace appliances, address HVAC and water issues, and begin construction in December. Roger Fonstock described equipment that is "beyond repair" and said the work will include drains, appliances and water-treatment improvements.

- Contract extensions: One-year, final extensions for building automation system services with Effie Moran Inc. (up to $200,000/year) and for water testing services with Figenix/Independent Water Management (up to $60,000/year) were approved as a grouped motion.

- Facilities maintenance: An additional, interim appropriation of up to $200,000 was approved for Ratcliffe Landscape Inc. to maintain county facilities while staff prepare a new bid packet.

- Software and public-safety systems: A justice case access portal from Tyler Technologies ($40,000/year) and an amendment integrating Alert Enterprise to Tyler Public Safety ($20,424/year) were approved.

- GIS services: Professional-services contract with NV5 for GIS work for roughly $250,000–$270,000 over three years was approved.

- Transportation and equipment: The Division of Transportation's buys were approved, including a 500-gallon tote striping truck ($441,207), fuel purchase ($442,000), and body/equipment packages for tandem-axle trucks ($668,884), as well as engineering and right-of-way commitments for road projects (French Harmony extension engineering at $1,711,364; Commonwealth Edison relocation commitment $1,000,000; preliminary compensation appropriations for Bridal at Hops $862,920).

- Consent package and levies: A batch of roughly 28 routine resolutions (per-diem meal rates, September claims paid, general fund and special service-area tax levies, EyeMed vision plan, ortho oblique imagery purchase of $746,550 over six years, rapid DNA instrumentation authorizations, child-protection grants, and others) was discussed; tax levies were marked to be off consent for separate votes at the full board meeting.

- Workforce development: The committee ratified an emergency purchase order and extended an interim contract for the workforce development interim director (funded by state grants) while the committee prepares to present a recommended permanent candidate to the full board.

All motions described above were carried at the Executive Committee level; where required, items will move to the Nov. 10 county board meeting for final action or separate roll-call votes (notably tax levies and certain off-consent items).
