Meadowview Elementary presents improvement plan: emphasis on literacy, PBIS, and student leadership

Meadowview Elementary principal Lisa Resner presented the school improvement plan and building priorities to the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District board on Nov. 10, highlighting academic interventions, social-emotional supports and student leadership programs.
Resner described Meadowview’s use of interventions such as Read 180 and ST Math, and said the school is tracking growth through STAR assessments and the Forward Exam. "We have 88 percent of our kids succeeding and without a reading plan," Resner said, pointing to literacy as an area of pride while acknowledging work remains to reach full proficiency.
On behavior, Meadowview staff emphasized PBIS tier 1 and tier 2 systems and individualized supports such as check-in/check-out and mentor groups. Resner and her team said most behavioral referrals are minor and tracked outside Infinite Campus, and that over 90% of students are successful under tier 1 expectations. The presentation also highlighted extracurricular and student-leadership opportunities — ambassadors, cadets, recycling and kindness clubs — and enrichment programs including hydroponic gardening and Lego League.
Board members asked about playground interventions and teacher supports; Resner described grade-level reteaching, individualized interventions and monitoring by guidance staff. The item was informational; no board action was taken.
