District hears aquatic center update: foundations in, permits pending; project ~15% complete

The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District board on Nov. 10 received an update on the new aquatic center from Kyle Roberts of Nexus, who said site work is progressing and the project is roughly 15% complete. "We're roughly about 15% completed," Roberts said, noting footings and foundations are in and precast walls entered production.
Roberts told the board the state’s review had been resolved and the district is awaiting city building permits before masonry walls and further above-grade work can begin. He said the roof is expected to go on around January–February and that one remaining bid package — the infill and renovation of the existing pool area — is planned for late spring and will not start until the new pool is operational.
On budget, Roberts said the four bid packs received so far came in about 8% under budget overall; that contingency funds will be retained as the remaining bid is issued. Board members asked about percent complete and contingency use; Roberts reiterated current contingency has not been tapped. The board did not take action on the item; it was an informational update.
Next steps: the project team will pursue city permits and issue the remaining bid package in the spring, with construction continuing through the winter as weather allows.
