Summit County holds public hearing to vacate 400-foot segment of Wyoga Lake Road; engineer and county counsel say property owners agreed

Summit County held a public hearing at 04:43 to consider a request by the county executive and county engineer to vacate a roughly 400-foot portion of Wyoga Lake Road in Boston Township (Council District 1) under the Ohio Revised Code and the county's codified ordinances.
Heidi Swindell of the Summit County Engineer's Office said the city of Cuyahoga Falls asked to remove the small section as part of a safety improvement that would eliminate an unneeded intersection and reduce crash risk. "It's about 400 feet," Swindell said, adding that the city and county were "fully on board" and she would answer questions.
Marvin Evans of the Department of Law and Risk Management briefed the council on legal and property issues. Evans said county staff worked with Cuyahoga Falls and property owners to prepare a vacation plat, that the road had been split historically between the city and the county, and that three property owners on the county half agreed to the split and signed the plat. "They waived notice," Evans said, and one property owner combined two parcels to avoid a landlocked parcel. Evans said there will be no damages or compensations and that Cuyahoga Falls will pay for the physical work.
No members of the public appeared to speak for or against the vacation. The public hearing concluded at 04:47 and the committee proceeded to its regular public works meeting.
